“淇淋” is just the transliteration of “cream”, so I think it doesn’t mean anything.In China, we also call the ice cream “雪（Xue）糕(Gao)” , “雪”means“snow” and “糕”means a kind of creamy dessert.

“淇”and “淋” are both used to describe the way water flows. “淋” also has the meaning of water drop from above. So my interpretation of this naming of 冰淇淋 is that the three Chinese characters summarized the characteristics of ice creams.
